Here we want to change the windows (to be able to take in the wonderful view), cut the grass, put a fence up and REMOVE THAT ORRIBLE RUSTY METAL BARREL!

We are hopefully going to take down the grapevines here and the concrete fence posts and generally tidy things up, oh yeah and did I mention we are going to get rid of that RUSTY OLD BARREL!

This is where a JCB is going to be required, we want to dig out all the earth from behind here and flatten it out to create a bit of a garden and to let more light into the back windows. And eventually we are hoping to build an extension, creating a bigger living room and an extra bedroom. Oh look there is a RUSTY OLD BARREL ON A POLE, needless to say ITS GOING!

Going to change that upstairs window, its far too small! And take the prison bars down from the lower windows (and probably replace them).

View up the hill of the vineyard.

This is the vineyard that runs up from the back of the house to the top of the hill, apparently we are not allowed to remove any of the vines without permission from authorities and some form of payment to them. However I think the rotton old used tyres are the priority at the moment, there is enough here to start my own tyre business. Perhaps I will fill the rusty old barrels with rotten old tyres and.... (any suggestions?)

This is what we bought the house for. The view is stunning and it gets better the higher up the hill you go. Yes that is the toilet facilities there in that wooden shed on the right, a new bathroom is very high on the list of things to do.

Basically the outside of the house is a grand clear up job. Its the inside that is going to need a lot of work. As I said we need a new bathroom as the outside toilet is literally a hole in the ground. We also need a new kitchen, stairs to the upstairs, we need to get water into the house and waste water out (including digging a septic tank).

We have already dug a well for our water (280,000 forints about 770pounds) which we are currently building a pit for, and installing a pump.

We have just bought a small house/cottage on the side of a hill in Adony and this is our blog about the renovation, from purchase to completion. Its basically going to be our record of what work we have done, how we did it and how much it has cost over the coming months. Until, hopefully, we can move in and to invite everybody to the housewarming party! :)

We have already paid for the house, the cost of which was 1,900,000 forints which at the time of this post is about 5,205pounds (365 forints to the pound). The lawyers costs were 30,000 forints (approx 82pounds) and tax was 6,000 forints (about 16.50 pounds) and thats it!

The actual purchase of the house consited of us, the seller and the lawyer sitting down in a room in the town hall in Adony signing a few pieces of paper, and handing the money over, as simple as that. The whole purchasing process taking approximately 45mins, as appose to 4 or 5 months in England. Having said this we dont yet have the keys to the house but will be picking them up this coming Tuesday afterwhich I will post some 'Before' photos.
